Let's
take your idea (confidential, of course) and do some real
analysis on it. This
is not guesswork, and I've yet to laugh at anyone's proposal.
I want to help you reduce the risks of building a web business
by letting you know if anyone is searching for something like
it. If your idea isn't new, the question is how stiff
is the competition?
I
will pour over data from Wordtracker, Overture, Google,
Findwhat, and other sources about searches and competitors in
this market. We'll make a spreadsheet of what we find and do a
bit of calculation on the web market size of your idea. The
result is a report indicating my best estimate of what you might
expect if you start your venture.
I'm going to be straight with you about what
you're saying, even if it isn't what you want to hear. You
can't get this information from banging on Google for hours on
end. I can bring together a wide array of information that
serves as a checks and balances for the process. Good
or bad, I'm giving it to you as I see it.
Through this research, we will be
getting a sense of what people are looking for, not what you or I think they might be
seeking. It helps to remove rose-colored lenses and look
at the situation squarely.
